🌼 Celebrating Mothering Sunday With Love at St Peter’s CE Primary School

This weekend, our whole St Peter’s family sends warm Mothering Sunday blessings to all mothers, grandmothers, and everyone who offers the love, care and guidance that so many of our children rely on every day. Whether you are a mum, a step‑mum, a foster carer, a grandparent, a family friend, or someone who simply stands beside a child with kindness you are treasured.

🌸 The Church Roots of Mothering Sunday

At St Peter’s, we value the Christian heritage connected to Mothering Sunday. Traditionally, this day was a time when people returned to their ‘mother church’ the place where they were baptised or raised in faith. It became a moment to gather as a family, give thanks, and remember the love and nurture that shapes us.
Over time, it also grew into a celebration honouring mothers and those who show motherly care in our lives. This message of unconditional love and compassion links beautifully to our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine.

💐 Children Sharing Love Through Creativity

Throughout the week, the children have loved preparing for Mothering Sunday in their classes. They have:
  • created special handmade cards filled with thoughtful messages
  • talked about the important people who care for them
  • reflected on how they can show gratitude and kindness in return
  • enjoyed sharing stories about their mothers, grandmothers and others who help them learn and grow

It has been wonderful to see the children’s pride as they thought carefully about what makes their families unique and special. Their artwork and words captured so much warmth—every card was a little burst of love ready to brighten someone’s day.

🌟 Love • Learn • Shine

Mothering Sunday gives us a precious moment to pause and recognise the everyday acts of love that help our children flourish. We hope everyone in our extended St Peter’s community feels appreciated, valued and supported today.
Wishing all who care for our children a very special and peaceful Mothering Sunday.
