🏜️ Adventures in Writing: Eagles and Ravens Bring the Desert to Life with Creative Writing🏜️

The children in Eagles and Ravens have been busy honing their descriptive writing skills this week. Inspired by the short film Zahra, they created vivid desert settings filled with adventurous vocabulary to transport the reader to a desert destination.
To make their writing even more engaging, the children experimented with different ways to begin their sentences, using adverbial phrases, verbs, and adjectives to add variety and rhythm to their storytelling. Their creativity and determination have resulted in some truly atmospheric pieces of work that capture both the beauty and challenges of the harsh desert environment.

Mrs Williams shared her delight:
“It’s been wonderful to see the children immerse themselves in the world of Zahra. Their use of language and imagination has really shone throughβ€”every piece tells a story that feels alive and full of adventure.”

One child summed up the excitement perfectly:
“I loved writing about the desert because I could make it sound mysterious and exciting. It felt like I was really there!”

This learning experience reflects our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine, children showing a love for storytelling, learning new writing techniques, and shining through their creativity. We are delighted to share some examples of their writing with you below.
