🌦️ Our Third Annual Walk to School Day — Cold, Wet… and Wonderful!
This morning was our third annual Walk to School Day, and despite the very cold, wet and miserable weather, our St Peter’s children and families showed incredible resilience and community spirit.
A massive well done to everyone who walked, scooted or cycled to school today — whether as a family or by joining our cheerful Walking Bus from The Stray. Mr Griffiths and Mrs Williams were delighted to accompany children and families along the route. We do this every Walk to School Day, and it’s always a brilliant reminder of how uplifting it is to start the day with fresh air, movement and friendly faces.
🌈 Why Walking to School Matters
Walking to school doesn’t just get the body moving — it supports our whole school vision of Love, Learn, Shine.
💛 Emotional Wellbeing
- A walk in the fresh air helps children arrive at school feeling calmer, happier and ready to learn.
- Time walking with family or friends encourages conversation, connection and confidence.
- Exercise boosts mood and concentration — perfect for a great day of learning.
🌍 Environmental Benefits
Choosing to walk, scoot or cycle reduces traffic around the school, cuts emissions and helps protect the planet our children will inherit. Every little step truly makes a difference!
Mrs Williams, our Climate Education Lead, said:
“Even on soggy, chilly mornings like today, our children show that small actions really do create big change. Walking to school is one of the simplest ways we can care for our planet together.”
