🎬 From After-School Rehearsals to the Spotlight! 🎭 Greek Myths Come to Life at Harrogate Theatre!

Drama Club Children Take Centre Stage at Harrogate Theatre

After ten weeks of creativity, teamwork, and sheer determination, our Drama Club children from KS1 and KS2 stepped into the spotlight at Harrogate Theatre’s Studio Theatre for a truly spectacular experience. Not only did they perform two fantastic plays inspired by Greek myths, but they did so in a professional theatre setting, complete with costumes, professional lighting, sound effects, and the magic of a real stage.
Parents and family members were invited to share in this special moment, creating a warm and appreciative live audience that cheered every scene. The children embraced the full professional theatre experience, showcasing their talent and confidence in front of loved ones.
Working alongside the Harrogate Theatre Community Team, the children explored drama, acting, and dance skills in a way that truly embodied our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine. From switching characters and taking on new roles to mastering timing, tone, and volume, every child demonstrated incredible growth and creativity.
Here’s what some of the children had to say about their experience:
  • “I loved switching characters and being someone else it was so much fun!”
  • “The amount of practice really helped us get the timing right.”
  • “Learning the dances and acting out Greek myths was amazing!”
The day was made even more special with a backstage tour of the theatre, where the children got to stand on the main stage after the pantomime performance, meet the cast and crew, and ask them questions about life in the theatre. What an inspiring experience!

Headteacher Mr Griffiths shared his pride:
“I am so proud of all our children for their hard work and creativity. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful local partnerships that make these opportunities possible. Experiences like this enrich our children’s learning and help them shine. We can’t wait to be back at the theatre next Friday with the whole school to enjoy the pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’!”
