🌟 Love, Learn, Shine Through Words: Eagles Embrace Poetry Masterclass

Today, Eagles Class enjoyed an exciting Poetry Masterclass led by the National Literacy Trust, featuring two renowned poets, Laura Mucha and Zohab Zee Khan. This was an online masterclass, meaning our children could benefit from the expertise of these inspiring writers from the comfort of their own classroom—a wonderful opportunity to connect with creativity without leaving school.
The session was packed with brilliant tips on how to spark ideas and craft poems that truly express feelings and imagination. Eagles explored ways to find inspiration in everyday life and experimented with rhythm, repetition, and imagery. After the workshop, they put their new skills into action by creating their own poems using the repeated stanza:
“I tried to write a poem…”
The results were fantastic! Each child brought their own unique perspective, showing how words can shine when we let creativity lead the way. This experience reflects our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine—loving the beauty of language, learning new techniques, and shining through self-expression.
Class Teacher Mrs Henderson said:
“It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited about writing. The masterclass gave them the confidence to play with words and express their ideas in creative ways. Watching their poems come to life reminded me just how powerful language can be when children are inspired. Eagles Class truly shone today!”
We are so proud of the confidence and creativity Eagles Class displayed today. A huge thank you to the National Literacy Trust for inspiring our young poets!
