Harrogate Town Community Team Celebrate Reading at St Peter’s

Today our school was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed Justin from the Harrogate Town Community Team, who led special reading sessions for all of our children following yesterday’s World Book Day celebrations.
The visit brought together two powerful passions in children’s lives – books and sport – and Justin delivered inspiring messages about how reading can open doors, spark imagination and help every child shine.

📹 Inspiring Video Messages from the Players

Children loved hearing directly from Harrogate Town players through special pre-recorded messages. The players spoke about:
  • The power and importance of reading
  • Starting with books linked to things you already love and enjoy
  • How practice makes progress — whether it’s football skills or reading skills
  • Reading as a way to support mental and emotional wellbeing, giving us moments of calm to think and reflect
These messages really resonated with our children, making reading feel exciting, achievable and relevant to their everyday lives.

📚 Generous Book Donations

Justin didn’t come empty-handed! He brought a fantastic range of books donated for our school library. Our children were thrilled, and these new additions will help nurture a love of reading for years to come.
We are incredibly grateful to Justin and the whole Harrogate Town Community Foundation team for their time, enthusiasm and generosity.

🤝 A Wonderful Community Partnership

It was fantastic to continue building our partnership with one of our local sports clubs. Today was a brilliant example of our school vision in action — Love, Learn, Shine:
  • Love – sharing a love of reading and connecting with our local community
  • Learn – discovering new stories, ideas and inspirations
  • Shine – seeing our children inspired by positive role models
Our children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, and we can’t wait to welcome the team back again in the future.
