💚 Community Kindness Shines in Eagles💚

Eagles Class has been treated to a wonderful selection of pre‑loved wet‑playtime games and books, kindly donated by members of the Harrogate Mumbler community. These thoughtful gifts are already adding excitement and variety to indoor playtimes, giving our children new ways to collaborate, imagine and enjoy time together.
Beyond the fun factor, these donations perfectly support our school’s commitment to sustainability — a message at the heart of our Love, Learn, Shine vision. By choosing to reuse high‑quality items rather than buy new, our community helps reduce waste and shows our children that small choices really can make a big difference to our planet.

Mrs Williams, class teacher and Climate Education Leader, shared:
“The children were absolutely thrilled to explore the new games and books. It means so much to us that our community supports both joyful play and our eco‑values. These donations help us show the children that caring for our world can start with simple everyday actions.”

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed. Your generosity is making playtimes brighter and our school greener.

🌿 Easy Upcycling Ideas for Families at Home

If your child has been inspired by our conversations about reusing and reimagining, here are a few simple ways to upcycle everyday items at home:
  • Transform jars into pencil pots or mini‑bug hotels
Clean old jam jars and decorate them with paints or fabric scraps.
  • Turn cardboard boxes into imaginative play worlds
Shoeboxes become treasure chests… cereal boxes become puppet theatres!
  • Create bookmarks from old birthday cards
Cut them into strips, punch a hole and add ribbon for a personalised touch.
  • Make seed pots from toilet‑roll tubes
Perfect for starting spring planting, and they go straight into the soil.
  • Upcycle old T‑shirts into reusable bags
A no‑sew activity children love helping with.
These small, child‑friendly projects encourage creativity, reduce waste and help families weave sustainability into everyday life.
