🌠 Waiting with Hope: An Advent Journey at St Peter’s, Reflecting on Advent Together🕯️
At St Peter’s CE Primary, we believe every experience should help our children Love, Learn and Shine. This week’s visit to St Peter’s Church was a perfect example of that vision in action. Our Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 children shared a joyful time of learning and reflection, deepening their understanding of Advent and celebrating the beauty of community.
The children were welcomed into the church for an Advent workshop and the stunning Christmas Tree Festival, where they marvelled at the beautifully decorated trees. Led by Karin and Chris from St Peter’s Children’s Ministry, they enjoyed an exciting treasure hunt, searching for decorations and symbols across the trees.
Afterwards, the children listened carefully as Karin explained the meaning of Advent a time of waiting, preparation and hope. They reflected on how waiting can be positive, helping us prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of Christ’s birth.
The children explored the Advent wreath, learning the symbolism of its candles, and then wrote their own messages of hope to hang on the Hope Tree. These thoughtful contributions showed just how deeply they engaged with the theme.
Miss Ward, Miss Corrigan and Miss Ratcliffe shared their pride in the children:

We are so grateful to St Peter’s Church for being such warm and welcoming hosts. Our strong connection with the church is a blessing and enriches the lives of our children every day. A big thank you also to the parents who helped with travel arrangements your support makes these experiences possible.
We look forward to returning to St Peter’s for our Christmas Service on Thursday 18th December at 9.30am, and we hope many families will join us for this joyful celebration.
