Behaviour Policy STP COVID 2020 – July Update

Our classes in Upper Key Stage 2 are mixed year 5 and 6 classes therefore, we have a two year curriculum so that each year we are learning about something new. Our topics cover many subjects including geography, history, art, DT, PE, music and more!

2020/2021 – This is what we are learning about this year:

Long Term Plan- Year A- Y56

Our Topics

We are looking forward to learning about…

Our English is always based on a text, play or film clip and all the SPaG knowledge that the children need to know is taught through these lessons.

We love fiction writing and use a range of different stimuli to make it interesting for the children – here are some examples.

Reading in Year 5 and 6

In Year 5 and 6 the children are encouraged to read increasingly challenging texts which are sometimes difficult to choose! To help, we have come up with a list of appropriate texts that we recommend, a lot of which can be found in our school library.

Y5 and 6 Recommended Reading List

Our maths is taught in a practical way where the children are taught fluency as well being encouraged daily to problem solve and reason.

We love when our science lessons involve practical investigations! Our lessons are always fun and often have a maths or art link. Here are a few pictures of us learning about electrical circuits.
