UPDATE 12.06.20 Y3/4 Home Learning

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you are all well and getting on okay with your home learning.  No doubt you will have heard the latest government news that Year 2,3,4 and 5 pupils will sadly not be able to return to school this academic year. We know that many of you will be disappointed to hear this years, as are we.  We will however continue to update this page and Teams with your home learning.  We have also recorded a video message of the Year 3 and 4 teachers as we know many of you are missing school.  This is available on your class General chat on Teams.  We miss you!  Take care.

UPDATE Y3/4 Team Information (22/05/20) 

Dear Parents and Carers,

As it is half term next week, there will be no structured timetable provided. We have created a fun activity grid with lots of different ideas the children may want to do during the holiday – Year 3 and 4 half term activity grid

Hopefully, the sun will be out shining and you can also enjoy some time in the outdoors with your families. We hope you half a lovely, relaxing half term break and hope to see you you all again very soon!

**Afternoon Foundation Subject Activities and Resources (Updated 20/04/20)**

We have created an activity grid for foundation subjects based on the topic we will be covering over the Summer Term. The activities can be completed in an afternoon, when our usual foundation subject lessons would be taught (See suggested time table https://stpeters.ycst.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Year-3-4-Home-Learning-suggested-timetable.docx.) There is a key on the document so you can see which area of the curriculum, each activity relates to. This document will be updated on a half termly basis. Please choose an activity each afternoon; some activities may take longer than others and require more than one afternoon. The activity grid is below, along with the resources mentioned:

Dear Parent/Carers

Here is an overview of the learning that the children should be completing over the upcoming weeks.  St Peter’s school is committed to ensuring that your child is learning as much as possible and we endeavour to do our absolute best to keep this happening.

Available communication links will be via email on admin@stpeters.ycway.uk, through our website https://stpeters.ycst.co.uk/ and via our Facebook page when necessary.  Emails that are sent to the office will be passed onto teachers who will respond as soon as possible.  The admin email is to be used as a central point in order that messages get to those who are able to respond.

Daily Reading

Reading is a great activity to complete either together or individually. There is still the expectation that children will read everyday and fill in their partnership books.  This is a great opportunity to read some of the “100 books to read in Year 3/4” , which can be found at the bottom of the page. Spellings and Handwriting

The PDF documents below detail the children’s weekly spellings and activities that support children to learn the new spelling pattern or rule. You can access a new spelling list each week and use the challenge games to help you learn them.Each list should be learnt over the course of a week and can be practised on Spelling Shed (please click on the icon below). There are also some Year 3 and 4 Spelling Challenges below as an extension activity. Teachers will update these activities weekly.

Maths Revision/ Consolidation

BBC Bitesize KS2 Maths is a great learning resource that children can use to revise/ consolidate knowledge and understanding of the topics that have already been taught in school.  Please do not try any topics that we have not yet been taught.

The Whiterose Home Learning tool is a website that provides daily lessons that use the Mastery approach. The children are taught in this way at school and are therefore used to this approach. This can be accessed using the following link:

Science

Year 3 and 4 are currently studying ‘Light.’  There are some fantastic science experiments that focus on scientific enquiry, you can do online.

It is also British Science Week in school soon and we will be looking at the theme “Our Diverse World” and exploring some of the activities and learning.  Here is the website link:

Brain Pop is a great online resource with lots of science activities, including quizzes, worksheets and video clips. They are offering free access for schools and families to use at home during this time.

History/ Geography/ Art

Our current topic is ‘Romans’ which covers a range of cross-curricular areas. Please see  Home Learning document for suggested activities. Further research and project work about this period in time can be completed – creative or written projects would be great!
